Looking for R-Pod or Alternatives

Hey folks,

I'm new to the community and new to trailers in general so I'm looking for some advice and help.

Next spring I'm considering purchasing some sort of small travel trailer. It doesn't necessarily have to be a new trailer and I'm willing to consider something used. I've looked through most of the small travel trailer websites at their various products and offerings and only two trailers are really standing out at this point:

R-Pod 176 (maybe the 172 as well)
Safari Condo R series

I'm looking for suggestions on trailers that are similar to these two either new or used. I'm looking for something that is 18 to 23 feet, light (under ~3,200 pounds dry), sleeping for 4 with a configuration of one sleeping area for two (can be a fixed bed or a convertible dinette)and two single beds (for the kids) preferably in a bunk configuration. Beyond those basic requirements I'm open to considering any hard sided trailer.

We rented a Vibe (6504 or similar model) last year and it was pretty good. I wasn't really crazy about the V-shaped front and the lost space that came with that and I also felt it was probably a tad bit heavy. Overall, for space and our needs it was quite good though.

What should I be looking for?

Thanks

  • Thanks for the recommendations folks.

The Rockwood 1905 Mini Lite might be a good option. I'll have to check to see if there are any in the immediate area.

Our current tow vehicle is a 2009 Ford Flex AWD with the optional tow package.

If you get a chance check out the Rockwood 1809S Mini Lite, it also is a Forest River product. You don't mention what you will be pulling it with - we pull ours with a 1/2 ton Chevy Pickup. We especially like the stand alone/removable table. PM me if you want more details.

I was just thinking something similar to that - I have relative who just got a Micro Lite which is just a few pound heavier / a few feet longer which has all the options the OP is looking for, and more, which he tows easily with a little Nissan Frontier pickup. The shorter smaller give up the murphy bed / living room and some overall living space, but would fit the bill perfectly for the OP.
  • Checkout the Wildwood 195BH. There are also a couple of other Forest River brand names with the exact same layout.
Beware that all the floorplans show the front bed as a queen, but it is actually a full size width.
The two bunks in the back are great for kids and the dinette also makes into a bed.

Oh and there is a used one at Holiday World in Mesquite Tx, that I traded in recently.
