Looking for tire ideas, Chevy 2500HD D/A, 245 75R16

I put Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10's on my 2005 and am really happy with their performance and longevity. I have about a little over 30K miles on them but tread still looks barely worn. I do get some road noise as they've worn a little, but that's OK with me. Snow, sand and mud traction has been a non-issue with these tires. I will buy them again when it comes time.

Thats my tire of choice. But I'll tell you its best for a heavy truck. I prefer narrow tires in that tread- 235s. They don't spin as easily and stay under the truck.

No one hear believes the miles they'll last.

I put BFG ATs on my '06 Duramax and they worked very well. Snow performance was great. A little road noise and all of that, but worth the tradeoff. I got about 40k miles out of them (they were about done when I sold the truck).

Call Z-Tire in Grand Haven, MI 616-846-1600 and ask them (John, the owner or Alex) about how long Michelin tires last for mileage as they do all the city and many other business vehicles tire work in the area and have for nearly 30 years. Some city vehicles have gone over 150,000 miles on Michelins as we'd talked about in several times. They sell dozens of tire brands besided Michelins and are very honest people with a great well deserved reputation. I'm only a customer and also enjoy superb Michelin tire mileage and winter traction in snow. It's all I will have on our trucks etc!

NEVER use any tire shine etc or coatings on any tire as it dries out the rubber compound and promotes premature cracking. Even the stuff the car wash places uses for tire shine is bad stuff as it contains the same harmful chemicals.

I put a set of Goodyear Silent Armours on my 2500HD and I notice a lot of wear at 15,000 miles. I won't go with then again.

When I was at Discount Tire getting the Cooper Discoverer ATP's put on my truck A Hot-Shotter came in and had asset of Falken Rocky Mountain ATS's installed on his rig. I talked to him about the tires and he said he's had very good service from the Falkens. That was about 3 years ago and I now have about 45,000 miles on the Coopers and don't have anything bad to say about them. Next time I buy I'll probably try the Falkens though just to see how they do.

Yep-different experiences. There have been many questions about Michelin's on this forum and there seems to be a growing consensus that in the last few years Michelin and their brands have become problematic. You and travenutz seem to be the only ones who get high mileage.

My distaste for Michelin is because of issues with a number of BFG tires over manufacturing defects and their refusal to honor a warranty. I have an open post about the blowouts I experienced.

I thought the michelins that came on my wife's Yukon XL were the worst tires I've ever driven on snowy/icey roads. They also started to chunk apart after a lot of gravel road. I live in northwestern Montana where we get plenty of snow.
I thought BFG A/Ts did really well in the winter but were soft and wore fast in the summer.
I have Toyo Open Country A/Ts on the wife's rig...much better than the michelins.
Toyo M-55's on my duramax and have no complaints.
I also have had Bridgestone Dueler A/T's and Firestone Steeltex A/T's and liked both of them.

I have ran a few sets of Michelin's and have had mixed results. The OEM Michelin's on my wife's 4Runner where great and we went thru 2 sets of the CrossTerrain SUV tire before it was discontinued. Each set got around 50-55K miles before wearing out, which is less than the mileage warranty so we got a little money back on the 2nd set (no mileage warranty on the OEM's) We never had a single flat and they had excellent snow traction. The 4Runner now has X Radial LT2's, so far so good.

My sig truck came with LTX's and I pulled them off as quick as I could. I bought the truck in November and winter was fast approaching. I am not sure I have ever ran a worse snow/ice tire. Tire pressure didn't seem to make much difference either, even at 30-40 rear and 50-60 front. The tread pattern on the LTX is identical to the CrossTerrain SUV, just a different compound.

After a short lived set of Toyo AT's I put on a pair of BFG KM2's and ran them for a season. They where great at everything, but a little too aggressive for a decent tread life when towing so they got reduced to winter/hunting duty. I picked up a set of OEM takeoff's from a 2011, the hated LTX... but I had zero intentions of doing anything but towing with them. They where my summer tire and did well for towing, thou they where wearing VERY quickly. With less than 15K miles on then they where down to about 9/32, but they where hard miles with lots of dirt towing. They did well in that environment, but I never asked them to give me winter traction. I did get one flat on the LTX's, it was a large rock puncture on a back road.

So mixed results, I could live with the shorter life of the LTX's as I demanded a lot of traction on dirt/gravel but the winter traction was a joke...
