Looking for TV mount recommendations

We purchased a 2016 Shadow Cruiser 282 BHS after the last camping season wrapped up, and now I'm getting it ready for the first time for THIS camping season.

It didn't come with a TV so I'm mounting my own, but having trouble finding a good mount. I'd like to get a mount with an articulating arm so I can have the flexibility to aim it in different directions, but I have two concerns.

1) It needs to lock (or at least be rigid enough) that it won't go flopping all over the place when the trailer is in motion.

2) It needs to be able to mount to the backer board, which appears to be about an inch thick. Some of the mounts I've looked at seem like the screws are MUCH longer than that. (My TV isn't that heavy, so I suppose I could swap out to smaller screws.

And then, of course, there's that unmentioned third concern. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. (I'll go up to the elbow, everything else is off-limits!)

Anyone else gone down this road? What's worked for you?

Thanks,
Dave
  • 1. A bungee cord and a couple of eyes or hooks will solve that problem.

    2. Buy smaller screws.

Check out Monoprice. Good quality, reasonably priced, and a mount for just about any situation can imagine.

When you search, don't just for TV mount. Also search on monitor mount. you'll get different results with products you may have otherwise missed.

Wow, never been to the Monoprice site before ... there's a TON of mounts there, and at a price I can afford to be wrong at! :-)

Gonna give this one a try. Looks like it has the hardware to lock the TV into a stable position when traveling.

    Thanks for the tip!

  • I went with this one from Sam's Club - Omnimount Full motion https://www.samsclub.com/sams/sc60fm-tv-mount-sm-full-motion-mount/prod20120177.ip?xid=plp:product:1:1
  • I used the MORyde as well.

I mounted to a hollow interior wall by drilling a 1" hole thru the front wall, into which I inserted dowels which were glued to the inside of the back wall. I then drilled the dowels and wall to accept 1/4" bolts.

I then created a 5/8" wood face plate the size of the bracket, glued it to the front wall, and thru bolted the bracket assembly to the wall.

Be sure to match drill everything to the mounting plate of the bracket, of course.
I also used fender washers, on the back wall, under the heads of the bolts

    Its solid as a rock.
  • I went with the MORryde small mount. It has an articulating arm, a solid lockup, and is well built. It's on the upper end cost wise though. It does swivel up and down however you need to loosen 2 wingnuts for that function. I replaced the included hardware with larger bolts as I through bolted mine through an interior wall. It's a sturdy, well designed mount. My only issue was that the television I bough didn't have a smooth back so I needed to create some spacers so the TV mounted flat. That was more because of my cheap television than any fault of the mount. https://www.amazon.com/MORryde-TV1-025H-Extending-Swivel-Mount/dp/B00AZS8PMM/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1493658818&sr=8-6&keywords=rv+television+mount
