One other thing,, Imagine trying to explain in court why your loose wheel hurt or killed, or even damaged some one else's property,,When asked if you had checked the lug nuts and you say,,"No one told me I had to check them"?
Or when a lawyer brings up the manufactures recommendations for your trailer and all you can say is......"No your honor,I have never checked my lug nuts on any vehicle I have driven for over thirty years,Never had one come loose"!!
I check mine before each trip and paint a line on them so I can visually check tightness along the trip. Along with making sure I hitched properly and that the break away cable functions, lights work and all the other safety equipment is in place and functions, etc,etc,, I even put a lock on my awning so it does not deploy or what ever while on the road.. Your mechanical ability or lack of does not absolve you of responsibility!!
