Some folks can't stand others doing something different than the way they do it.
Made a living pulling non RV trailers from 7k up to 20k using the same axles/steel wheels a RV uses. In over 800k miles never used a torque wrench on a steel trailer wheel. No issues from doing so.
We simply use a 4 way.
Now on aluminum wheels I would use a torque wrench and I check the lugs more often than steel wheels.
One poster mentions the trailer adds side stress to the wheels as it side scrubs around corners is a good point.
Another point is a lug centered wheel on any vehicle requires more checking than a hub centered wheel.
Lugs on a hub centered wheel simply clamp and don't carry the load.
Now granted not many hub centered wheels systems are used in the RV industry. Hubs with centered wheels are used on some commercial trailers and don't require as much attention as the lug centered systems.
