It's all "smoke and mirrors", marketing and sales. Buyer beware.
In a world were the "State approved and mandated" wet weight sticker on my unit is LESS than the "honest" dry sticker in the closet AND BOTH are considerably less then the dry weight number on the claimed "factory invoice" it becomes clear that there is no "teeth" in whatever consumer protection laws that relate to RV's and there must be plenty of loopholes for OEM's to keep getting away with it.
While a recent thread follows a proud and happy owner of a 1/2ton designed for camper even they admit that when weighed the unit was more then the factory claimed - no surprise there!
As long as buyers keep getting sucked into nice looking woodwork (which IMHO is likely farmed out) basics like wiring, plumbing and body sealing will get overlooked.
