It has started to dawn on me that when manufacturers say a camper is 'made for 1/2 tons' what they mean is that it will physically fit in the truck bed....not that it will be within your payload capac...

Then how do you explain their claims. I don't know of any hardside that does not exceed the payload of any 1/2 ton..and when you add 1000 pounds or so for gear, fuel/water, and people....
I'm saying that the only way those campers fit a 1/2 ton is by dimensions. not weight.
