It has started to dawn on me that when manufacturers say a camper is 'made for 1/2 tons' what they mean is that it will physically fit in the truck bed....not that it will be within your payload capac...

That will limit you to only a few slide in campers. . . I prefer my camper with a wet bath, refrigerator, closet, furnace, and stove that has a oven.
I have heard of European campers that fit on the Ranger! It has a much lower GVWR.

No not a European Camper but a U.S. one. Not a problem. Here cargo ratings for GlobalPickups are roughly 3000lbs plus No nothing can fit on the U.S. Ranger payload is tiny
