It has started to dawn on me that when manufacturers say a camper is 'made for 1/2 tons' what they mean is that it will physically fit in the truck bed....not that it will be within your payload capac...

I know I'm going to get hammered for this but I think whatever camper you put on your truck you should be able to tell if it handles good or not. If it doesn't handle well and wobbles all over the road then maybe you made a mistake. I once overheard a comment about my camper that went like this, " Me and my oldman almost flipped in one of those, I wouldn't have that piece of s--t! " Well I have been on over 30,000 miles of trips with my camper so far on all kinds of roads and only came close to flipping once when the DW was driving in high winds and trying to pass a 18 wheeler. I'm not saying accidents can't happen but my Northstar Laredo handles really well on my F-250. And I'm not one to drive extremely slow either.I also have stock suspension with a two inch lift. the truck did come with a camper package though.
