It has started to dawn on me that when manufacturers say a camper is 'made for 1/2 tons' what they mean is that it will physically fit in the truck bed....not that it will be within your payload capac...

If loading a TC on a HD half ton is so dangerous and stupid why don't we ever hear about problems, accidents, etc? Yes you will over gross a half ton with many of the truck campers that fit them, but going a few hundred lbs over their gvwr i feel is not a huge deal. Stay within your tire & axle ratings.
