It has started to dawn on me that when manufacturers say a camper is 'made for 1/2 tons' what they mean is that it will physically fit in the truck bed....not that it will be within your payload capac...

The exact opposite to what I think.
The point I was trying to make is that I would think that the actual size and strength of the materials that make up the chassis are more important than the designation and payload rating.
