I personally would love the power of a new diesel. But the new Gassers are Not to be underestimated. They are very powerful, often tipping 400 lb ft of tq and near or over 400 hp.
For me, I like simplicity and reliability which is why I have chosen gas motors so far. I don't mind paying a little more for fuel for some peace of mind. However, I am not one to think that gassers are not complicated pieces of modern technology. They most certainly are and they can get pretty expensive to repair as well. Its just for the same price as fuel system replacement on some diesel models you can have a brand new engine sitting between the frame rails of the gasser.
Something I love about the time we live in is that we have choices. There is literally a truck for every single job that we consumers can think of.
From Commuter trucks to tugs that can pull 30,000 lbs. We can buy whatever we want/need.
For me, If my load is going to be sub 10,000 lbs. I am going to run a gas motor. If over that, I will consider a diesel.
But I am a typical half ton truck owner who mostly uses my truck to commute in. I want and need the occasional need to tow a decent load. Most of the other time I need a comfortable truck that is easy on fuel, easy to drive every day, and fairly reliable/cheaper to fix.
Thanks!
