Most of my Cats had 2 full and 2 add marks on the stick. One for cold, one for warm.

Read it on a Ford Forum where is was mentioned as a matter of fact with Ecoboost engines. People were saying things like, "I towed 1,800 miles and only "Gained a small amount of oil". With diesels it can be from extra fuel used during regens. I don't know why you would get it with a gas engine. If it was a bad injector on a DI engine like an Ecoboost you should be getting a CEL because emissions will be out of whack it should be throwing codes.

I had the same issue with my 2008 Chevy 2500 Duramax. This was a well documented issue at the time. During regen fuel is injected into the piston during the exhaust cycle which which pushes unburned fuel through the exhaust system into the DPF where it burns the diesel particles. Some fuel would find its way back into the oil. Many people corrected this issue by deleting the DPF and reprograming the engine.

The problem was corrected in later years by injecting fuel into the manifold during Regen.

After 3 pages of comments, most of which have nothing to do with the ecoboost, in general, if you check oil immediately after shutdown, it may read low as all the oil hasn’t drained back. A little low.
Your description makes no sense, but either your eco is making oil or it’s not, so is it?

I don’t know ____all about ecos but 5 min on the old googler told me there is a tsb for the 11-14 models they are making oil. Has to do with cold engine fueling. COLD like winter up north, not chilly down south.
And there’s also an issue with some HPFFs.

But there is no “temporary” high level that magically goes away unless you check the oil parked the wrong way on a slope!!

I had a transmission modulator valves go south and fill the crankcase with transmission fluid.
