Even if the batteries are maintenance free, at some point you need to access them for install or replacement. Although I feel better about accessing them at the far front of the basement than a door on the front wall, I think better accessibility to them might prove wise later. Maybe even put them on the rolling tray instead of in front of it and just use longer leads.
I am starting to work on design for the battery/ solar charger/ inverter/converter as well as all the associated shunt, fuses wiring etc... I would like to build a box/backer system that would contain all of the above that could be easily slid to the front (towards the cab of the truck) of the basement and back out. The tie in points for AC and DC are in the back of the basement so longer whips for all that plus solar cables would allow the assembly to be pulled out to inspect/work on.. The controls for the system would be located in the coach, so once wired properly there shouldn't be much need to access the basement. Lifep04 batteries don't really have a need for service once they are assembled and balanced. It will be nice to pull everything out and clean/inspect every 6 months or so.
Looking at possibly a Viictron 3000 MultiPlus system with 600-800 usable Amp battery bank. I think I could put the whole thing together including the solar charge controllers and use roughly 1/3-1/2 of the basement. We don't plan to keep a lot in the basement, and what we do will be in totes that pull out easily.
Now that I have taken some dimensions of the basement yesterday I can continue working on a design. I anticipate that the gen and battery compartments are too small to utilize and I prefer to carry the weight as far forward as possible. The battery bank should weigh close to 250 pounds, so pretty light for the power output but still like having it as far forward as possible and frees up the other compartments for stuff I use more often.
We have a long list of questions now for HOST. I should probably give him a heads up before visiting the factory.
BTW, we checked out the Everest bedroom layout and decided we liked that a bunch. That went on the list! :B
