we've had one since it came out and I agree. I love the wireless camera, one of the very very few that is designed to work at the back end of a long trailer.
As for the mapping and directions, again, shortest distance means exactly that.
Garmin gets the map info like most others from a common source, yes it isn't perfect, I agree.
But at the same time I've used it to travel on FS improved and unimproved roads to find obsure out of the way site seeing places and it was dead on tracking the FS roads and correct turns (which anymore often aren't marked since vandals sometimes destroy the markers). In some cases even better and more accurate than USGS maps that hadn't been updated in a few years.
