I don't know if it's changed, but when I bought my truck, the GM heavy duty trucks were quite a bit more expensive than the Ford or Ram counterparts. Stickers were all pretty comparable but in terms of real world pricing GM or their dealers in my area just weren't discounting as much. If that's still the case it could certainly drive down sales numbers.
As I have been looking at new duallys, the GM twins are by far cheaper MSRP than Ford or Ram. When comparing the top of the trim levels, Platinum, Limited, High Country and Denali, the GM's are $10K less than the others. The Platinum and Limited are just about the same with the Platinum being a little more.
When I build a Denali with SRW and a Platinum with SRW and comparable equipment the Denali is only $3,500 less money but the Ford Platinum comes standard with equipment you can't order on the GM.
Blind spot monitoring mirrors
Twin panel moon roof versus single panel on the GM
Power deployed running boards
20 inch wheel versus 18 inch on the GM
Remote lowering end gate
Tailgate step
Wheel well liners
High mounted camera
LED headlights
Adaptive steering
If this equipment was available on the GM the price would pretty much identical if not more. Not sure where you got the $10,000 cheaper figure from. Plus you can order more options on the Ford like 360 degrees cameras and adaptive cruise control that GM doesn't offer
