Marker lights pj

With all the new LED lights there must be improved mounting systems too...anyone got suggestions? BTW, do we need by law have to have the two amber markers on the front of the TC..it is a possible leak waiting to happen. Or do you have suggestion for sealing or installing?

NO, not in my opinion. Marker lights were probably great on tiny 2 lanes years ago.

Anything over a certain width IS required to have marker lights indicating the outer corners. I think it's 80" width and over.

FMVSS108 and CMVSS108 describe marker light requirements.

  • As always I am doing research and have been wondering about this type. One hole no screws...I retrofit similar on my boat trailer cause the square surface mount type were always getting broken, just in a bad place to get knocked, so these have been on for a couple of years and still fine. Used on boat trailer

Then I saw these as well similar.

ON the Lance the back markers are mounted on a metal overhang reverse cant flashing effort along with the high intensity back up lights...don't expect any leak issue here for lights, may be others associated with the metal bit...will not know until removed...also the TC was wired for Back Up Cam, wires should be there too.

    METAL OVERHANG

Before you ask: The air deflector keeps the back very clean, even in dust and snow/slush conditions. They are not made any longer, with the poor economy of the last six years the company found that not enough extra funds available from folks that had buses, their main client. Too bad RV folks didn't offer as an option.

Back to lites...ONE HOLE even if it is bigger...the whole circumference is visible for inspection, no hidden screws and wire hole...since the TC is getting a rebuild then a prepared mounting spot for this type could be made easily.

NO, not in my opinion. Marker lights were probably great on tiny 2 lanes years ago. Maybe eve when cars had black outs during WWII. But they are still required Yes. I thought about the same question about leaks. Every light is 3 leaks waiting to happen. 2 screw holes and 1 hole for the wire in each light. Times 5 lights across the front of your RV and presto... 15 places for water to get in. And that is just the front of RV.

My answer was to make a inspection panel on the inside that flops down, I remove a small shelf that I put in and then the small panel flops down right where lights are. Allows me access to inspect twice a year. Rest of the time just looks like book shelf.

Still waiting for rear of RV to figure out something. Shower is in back corner and just can't cut an access hole in it.
