The RAWR is based largely on the load capacity of the two rear tires - which can be changed. The GM axle and wheel bearings is load rated by AAM at 10,900 lbs. but with two 3200@80 PSI tires on the rear guess which gates the load rating?
A crew cab will have a lower load rating than a crew cab as the manufactuer expects a 150 lb. person to be in every available passenger seat. The 2500 has a single leaf pack whereas the 3500 has two with the second serving as an overload spring. Easy to add SuperSprings to accomplish the very same thing.
With more than 3500 lbs. of pin weight it is time to consider a dually so the weight is carried by four tires instead of two.
