Just like now days a standard bed has shrunk to 6'!
maybe we should just refer to them as light duty or Heavy Duty.

Thanks Jerry I have no problem with a gas engine but I put to many miles on a year for a gas engine to last me long enough. I do know about the issues with the best engine ford has ever made :-/ I already planed on on apr studs, better oil cooler, and egr cooler. 350 srw would be fine with me I know it has a extra spring.

Justin, you should not need a DRW truck to handle the FW you are looking at. I will say if you want a diesel, it would be best to look for a SRW 350. I am a Ford guy, but have to say a 6.0, has not been the most reliable diesel.

If you found a 250 with the V10 gas engine, it would have more payload, and make a better daily driver. It would also pull a 10,000 lb. FW quite easily.

The diesel engines are heavy, and use up more payload.

You need to consider the loaded FW weight, for pin weight. The Hemisphere looks like a nice FW, with a dry weight of 8,500. With battery, propane, and all your stuff, it will be around 10,000 lbs., with a 2,000 lb. pin. Plus the FW hitch, another 200 lbs.

Thanks for all the info, I'm looking at the Hemisphere 286RL and it only weighs 8,500 (empty) or maybe the 337bar which is 2000 pound pin weight but if I go with that one I do believe I will go with duals for that. I don't have the truck yet, but it will also be my every day vehicle so I don't really want to deal with duals all day but if it's that much better then I can deal with it. The truck I'm looking at is a 2005-2006 crew cab f250 6.0 so I know it can tow it. But I guess the part I'm missing is its a 3/4 ton truck and the pin weight being over 1500 pounds or am I just not missing how the fifth wheel works.
Or is a dually that much better to tow a fifth wheel with? I'll be taking long trips with it or what I'm calling long trips nc to Disney and one or two trips to San Antonio. Thanks again for the info

It depends on the specific truck. The payload for each vehicle is located on a yellow sticker on the drivers door jamb. The available payload can vary widely depending on options and configuration.

I believe for a 33' 5er, you have listed the dry weights. Look at the GVWR and use 20% of that for an estimate of the pin weight.

The paylaod capacity shown for the truck, does not include passengers and cargo ....not even the 5th wheel hitch.

Welcome to the forum.

The F250 has 6100 RAWR/tire capacity and is good for around 3000 lb depending on the trucks actual scaled separate axle weights after its loaded and ready for the road.

The 8440 is most likely a dry weigh so add another 1500-1800 lbs for options and your "stuff" you add to the trailer. The trailer may weigh in the 10k-11k range which may mean a 2000-2200 lb pin weight which is well within the F250 load carrying ability.

How much towing performance the F250 has depends on the engine selection

I pull a 11200 lb 5th wheel trailer with a 2200 lb average pin weight with my 2500 Dodge/Cummins. Great combo
