Wow, this thread got some hackels up and fast. Quick someone post up the Ram tailgate test.

Ram has a 4500 but it isn't tested against the other brands for some reason.

maybe because it has a flat bed and the engine is rated lower for a longer life.

I think both should be fine trucks. But I do find it interesting that Ford is using a 450 against a 3500?

I would rather see comparisons done on acceleration from a stop on a hill to 45-55mph. Merging accelerations from ramps to interstates. Heat temps of engine and tranny under heavy loads and hot weather. Transmission shifting when pulling loads and ease of drivability. Real life things that we really rely on when pulling.

As a former F450 owner, I still say they're focusing on the wrong stuff. Let's face it, most people who are shopping for a $70,000+ truck are not the kind who are planning to take their truck to do drag races and stuff. They're looking for a company work truck or something to pull their big giant 5th wheel.

Enough power already, even Chevrolet. Focus on dependability, longevity, and fuel mileage. I don't care how fast it pulls 30,000 lbs. How much diesel will I use from here to Disneyworld is far more important than how quick I can leave a stoplight.
