METAL CARPORT FOR THE CAMPER

Wow, just got some quotes. Going with a 31' long by 14' metal carport with 12' tall sides giving about 14' clearance in the middle is about $ 2,300 installed.

More than I thought it would be but I believe if we want the camper to last forever in the rainy northwest i better just bite the bullet. One little pinhole leak left unchecked for a few months could cost just as much....

    Is there a poured pad?
    What material is the framing?
    Any other info helpful.

It is the sides and roof, with mobile home tie downs into the ground. It will be going on my side yard which is about 6'' of gravel where we use to have grass. it is 14 gauge painted steel.

Thats about the going price for that size. Thats about the size that I went with but I ended up having the company come back to close in sides and one end after the thing swayed too much in the wind. Now its rock solid. With 12' high legs there is alot of roof height and wind resistance. I know they are stressed for wind load but I just didnt like that much movement.

I need the front and rear open as I will be parking trailers behind and through it. We also have a bedroom window on that side yard so I'm going to go with the open sides with the thinking we could always add it later if we get to much sideways rain on the camper. But with it being 14' wide we should be good.

I have one and it's awesome. Well worth the money. Plus, think of how much you'll save not paying a storage facility.

We've not been paying for storage. Its been on the driveway or the side yard all the time we've had it. We do have a cover but have yet to use it as its a pain and we use the camper all year round. Now that the camper is getting on its third year we just want to protect it more and any future camper we might end up with. And the 31' allows me to leave the camper on the truck and both will be protected from the Oregon rainy season that last 8 months....

That's a lot cheaper than the kind of online quotes I've gotten. Do you have a snow load to worry about?

In any snow prone region you are crazy not to spend the extra and get the vertical roof. That allows snow to unload on its own. My roof dumps itself usually by mid afternoon after most snow storms.

Its billed as a ''rounded'' roof with ''some'' snow load. In Western Oregon we usually just have rain except for the once or twice a year snow storm that dumps a big 2 inches of snow....
