- rexlionExplorerTST customer service told me that high pressure stems are ok as well. They're a little tougher than the ordinary rubber stems, I guess.

I have the TST system and have run rubber valve stems for two years and over 3000 miles with no problems. - tvman44ExplorerNot required but I would not be without them using any TPMS. :)
- rockhillmanorExplorer IIAfter one blowout and 2 more flat ties on one trip after purchasing my MH......I found out all 6 tires had 'rubber valve stems' :S
I replaced them all with stainless steel valve stems right then and there and had all my other vehicles changed too. So with or without TST I recommend changing them. - LynnmorExplorer IIMany tire dealers don't have the full metal stems in stock. I got mine from Amazon. Be sure that the sensor will clear the wheel if you get the real short ones.

Do I need special valve stems?
No, you do not need special valve stems, but you do need commonly available metal valve stems.
The added weight of the sensor on a rubber valve stem could cause problems that will be avoided by using metal valve stems.
Most motorhomes and commercial transport vehicles come equipped with metal valve stems. If you do need metal valve stems, they are not expensive; a recent customer had 6 valve stems replaced on a 30’ gooseneck racing trailer for $36. They are available and can be quickly installed by any tire dealer. - bob213ExplorerOn my TST system they are not required but highly recommended.
