IF peppermint oil really did deter them, which I have proven it does not, you would have to literally cover every inch of ground for it to bother them...or they will just go where there are no cotton balls.
Just to be clear, I am not trying to argue this point. I researched, I tried it, and just want to pass on this information to save people some time. I personally used to go nuts and stress if I didn't put those mouse deterrents in my trailer. Now I can spend time doing other things like trying to find where they got in!
