Everybody has their own techniques. There is no universal method that works for all parties all the time.
You can try various elixirs but I have found that sealing as good as you can and traps work as well as anything. This assumes you can check the traps before the mouse starts to smell.
Personally, I am convinced mice can, at times, walk though walls. :)
