Michelin MS2 only 35k and done

I've had several sets of LTX M/S and M/S2's and have had excellent results. Always get at least 70K out of a set. They stick like glue in the snow so I wouldn't call them all season. That would be the LTX A/S which are horrible on wet or icy roads.

Michelin are not the answer to good long mileage tires. I get about 35K out of LT highway and then get a little pro rated on the miles. Go Firestone Transforce.

Very true about the weight differential between a Tundra and F350, and I have seen many F350's chew up the same Michelin AT/2 tire within 35-40K miles, while mine look great at 45K...towing or otherwise. But the dreaded sidewall cracking was eating the tires alive before two years. I do not care if they sit out in the heat, as for most of the day I park in covered areas. I have complained to the dealer and have been told "that's normal" for Michelins and to keep an eye on it and see. Well, it's now just over three years and they look like crap, so I guess another run to the dealer at rotation time will tell if they will prorate them....

Yep, I did not even think about the weight difference on the tires....I just posted about my experience with the MS2 tires...but this set, with 20k miles on them, have seen about 15k miles towing and the tread has been used quite a bit, not like my past tires.....

You are not alone....I think it is because they changed the MS2 a bit....it is more greener?? I have always been a huge fan of the MS2 tires. Ran them on a 1999 Blazer (65k miles), two sets on our 2004 Suburban (about 60k miles first set, this set is at 50k and looks good), then when I bought my TV last November, I immediately put on MS2 tires....fast forward to today (20k miles later), they are not tracking like my other sets have. I think I will be good to get another 10k out of them. They are rotated every service and kept up on....oh well. I have been looking for some other tires, but I just love the ride and no road noise from the Michelins .

I have 30k on my MS2 now and have a ton of tread left. I would contact Michelin for a warranty claim.

A recurring theme seems to be that these tires are wearing faster on the Ford and Ram trucks than they are on the GM trucks .
Although all of my trucks have been GM except for 2 Fords I am a fan of any diesel pickup for Towing regardless of brand .
If I could only "get a deal" on a Ram or Ford diesel I would prefer that over any gasser from GM.
As regards tire wear it sure appears that the GM trucks do better .
Something else that seems to work is the brakes on an HD2500 are so much bigger than the 1500 or F 150 that they also last twice to one-and-a-half as long .

I agree that those posting about experiences with non diesel trucks really are not relevant.

I used BFGs on my 2003 and they wore out at about the same rate as you got. I have a friend whose Ford went through them the same way. Seems to me that type of mileage is what you should realistically expect in a 8000 pound truck.

There has been more and more posts on issues with Michelin. From dry rot to not getting the wear like you used to be able to.

It does make one wonder.

FWIW, I have 25K on mine, around 8k of that towing. 265/75/16 E on a 2000 Excursion. They look barely used.

Interesting that the results seem to be all over the board on these.
