Midi-Heki Glazing Dome (outside dome)

I have done searches on this site and the internet to find this.Other than Lance (which last fall I believe quoted me over $500 just for the dome) The replacement dome for my skylight are nowhere to be found anywhere in the US! I have tried purchasing it from online places overseas only to be told they cannot ship the replacement dome to me. Haven't asked about buying the entire thing, as I don't need it....and the prices with shipping are astronomical!

Anybody else found a place yet in the US for the outside dome? This is ridiculous and so frustrating!

Thanks in advance,

Dak
  • Heki (Dometic really) should be ashamed of the quality of that product, and the after sales parts prices - which are unfortunately often needed. I was quoted $500 plus tax and shipping for just the dome from Dometic USA (had to come from Europe). I purchase a complete unit (the crank up version which is superior and costs more) from a German company on eBay. The total cost including 3 day shipping from Germany was less than $500. Go do eBay.de (German eBay) and type in Heki Midi. You can buy just the dome, the whole unit is available a lot of places for 308 Euro (about $324) and shipping of 120 Euro. Those prices typically include 17 precent VAT which will be taken off if shipped to the USA.

I do not understand why North American builders continue to use this product. It is a prime example of "good concept, bad execution". I do not understand why Dometic refuses to support the product they sell in any reasonable way.

If you do order a replacement from Europe, I recommend the crank up version rather than the lever operated. The mechanism is less fragile, and the crank can be operated without opening the bug scree, letting all the bugs in.
  • Send Steve a PM sabconsulting as he lives in the UK perhaps he could locate one and facilitate shipping if you wired him the funds
  • Northern Lite, Adventurer/Eagle Cap and Host also use Heki products. You may want to try them and see if their markup is similar.

I know when I asked about specialty parts for my Arctic Fox/Northwood, they could get parts but wanted me to order through a dealer to keep their dealer relationships clean by not making transactions directly with customers. It was kind of odd because you can get the factory to do repairs or modifications, but they would not directly sell me a part.

Have you tried some of the TC manufacturers that put Heki products in their builds? Perhaps they can order the part you need instead of the entire assembly.

I did,.. Lance to be exact, and the simple dome only is over $500!! I am searching for a more reasonable place, if possible.

    Thanks!
