Misplaced Keys

Zinger...I agree, the deadbolt lock a slight bit better than universal, but if you read my first post, my other trailer key worked easily in the handle, and dead bolt lock.

I might add that the keys for my FW door locks are slightly different, but the dead bolt key, works easily for both. Yes, my FW dead bolt key, easily unlocks my snowmobile trailer door, both handle and dead bolt.

Most RV locks are of cheap design, and many keys will interchange.

I think the latch is universal but the dead bolt is not. When i dropped mine off for warranty work a few years ago they had me lock the handle but unlock the dead bolt. Even though it was the same key? they said that they had a master key for the handle but the dead bolt was more specific.

But it sounds like both are locked so i can't offer much help. definitely get a spare set once you get it unlocked.

Windows are easy enuf to open.

Once unlocked from the inside you can remove the lock from the door. You can then take it to a lock Smith to get a new key made. Some of the locks have the key number etched on the inside. Once you get the key number you can order new keys.

If it is an FIC lock you can order new lock cylinder cores and lock cylinder core removal key and insert new cylinder cores. They are available on ebay and Amazon. The cores and keys are sold in sets. The cores are replaceable just like the cores on Yakima roof racks. FIC and yakima use the same double sided key blank design. They may even use the same lock cores.

Once unlocked, one of two things:
Have the locksmith who picked the lock make a key or take lock out of door, it should have a sticker with a code number, using that number either an RV dealer or a locksmith can cut you a key.

Once unlocked then how to relock? New lock, locksmith to make new key, leave window unlocked, skinny kid again or ?

If you have the standard baggage door locks with the common 751 / CH751 key you might obtain one of the keys and open a baggage door under a bunk or bed and give a skinny neighbors kid $10 or $20 to shimmy through and unlock the trailer from inside.
