Great replies!
I see I'm not alone in my wistful dreaming of roaming the planet in something nimble but self-contained.
I love the Earth Roamers, Expedition vehicles, etc etc also but my reasoning behind choosing a Ram & Host was availability-of-service, within the states anyway. I'd like the option of quickly swooping into a Ram dealer for oil changes or other services. But no denying, those specialty, MDT or HDT-based expedition vehicles would be the ULTIMATE way to roam.
To those of you who already have your "perfect" setup, congrats! They say the key to happiness isn't having what you want, but wanting what you've got.
I also can see the point of those that would want multiple options, depending upon the type of travel. Not a bad plan either (since, of course, in our scenario money is no object LOL)! A huge, cushy 5er or A for on-road travel, a light, compact TC for true off-road boondocking and a little C for tailgating and quick weekend trips would not be a bad way to live life!
But if money is no object, I can pay someone to get me parts for whatever I'm driving very quickly. I don't care that much about service as I can pay for a high end professional familiar with my rig to fly in with the parts and take care of the problem.
I may have a fleet of 3-4 identical rigs following me. If one breaks down, I hop in the next one back and keep going.
That's the problem with the "money is no object" debates, if you take it literally, the rules change completely and it can get pretty silly.
