A real tug of war exists with me.
The thrill of a continental adventure going from southern Chile/Argentina up to the North Slope of Alaska intrigues me. So an Outfitter style camper with a good SRW 3500 series would be great.
However, a side door Lance or Host on a 5500 series Ram, with air ride suspension, also is a dream combination for cruising the US, up to Alaska, and Canada.
Why would one preclude the other? ;) My rig has done/is both.....too bad I wasn't along for the ride.
What I would do would depend on the size of the lottery perhaps; you'd have to get started spending on something if you won 400 mill, but if I one a smaller lottery, yeah, I guess I'd probably make a few changes to my rig.....most likely a custom built Aluminum bed to replace my mega heavy flatbed, make a few changes to my suspension....and probably box in the Lance base and maybe even chop the bottom of the cabover so I could lower it some more......but the bottom line is we have bought and continued to build our dream already. Our existing rig in fully loaded form is our big truck, with the big Lance, with my dirt bike (+ bicycles) on the hitch above the tow bar pulling our Jeep, with my wife's dirt bike on the bumper of the Jeep. Haven't yet had it all on at the same time, but it is basically capable of it already. Throw the canoe on top of the Jeep and what more could I possibly want? Maybe a Jeep-top tent for the overnights at the end of the 4x4 trail? A good pair of boots? Our backpacking gear?
We'd just start wandering and see where the winds pushed us. Mostly my only want is the time to do it......
