Highly recommended side trip. It's far enough out at this point that I can't commit, but I do expect we'll be out there earlier than the official camp begins. I'm not used to being there in July so I don't know what things will be like as far as finding campsites at say Bowman Lake or Kintla Lake. I had been thinking we might try to camp up there somwhere a couple of nights before the meet but I'm not too sure what the options will be like. I think there may actually be a campground or at least some camping right there in Polebridge....I've seen signs for "camping and cabins" right near the Merc. Of course there might be some other possible boondocking locations furthur up the outside north fork road past the turn to Polebridge, especially turning west into the NF/logging roads.

Another thing I've wanted to do is to actually climb Huckelberry Peak Fire Tower which if I remember correctly is hiked from that same interpretive trail you mention. The view northeast towards the Lewis Range of GNP would have to be steller from the fire tower.
