It may have been said earlier in the thread, but a great way to hike a lot of Glacier is to use a shuttle of some sort. There are so many tremendous one-way hikes you can do. My brother and dad and I would often get dropped off one place (usually by my mom) and hike a long "up one side down the other" type trail and get picked up all the way on the other side. It's pretty easy I think to find rides as well, such as a one-way ride on a red-bus to your starting point and then back to your car. We did the Garden Wall Trail several times this way. Start at Logan Pass, hike to Granite Park Chalet, then down to "The Loop" (the switchback on the main GTSR on the west side) and have her pick us up. We also did Piegan Pass from the GTTSR over to Many Glacier and Swiftcurrent Pass from Many Glacier to "The Loop". I think once he did the Gunsight Pass from the east side to the west side via Sperry Chalet.
Incredible one way hikes can be done in Glacier very easily. Of course, there is a lot of snow to melt before they all open :)
