More GM recalls.

Worst part is that it has jammed the service centers at all the dealerships at the same time of the year when a lot of people want to have work done prior to heading out on vacation. I could not even get through on the phone to the two local dealers in my area.

not surprising at all. After all the trouble they are in for the botched cobalt/etc. defect and subsequent deaths attributed to it, GM is now going to issue a recall for anything that even sorta moves or smells like it might become a recall.

Remember, when your customers die in your car, it's highly unlikely they'll return to the showroom for a new model.

With the price of coffee increasing this is a win for the GM owner. Just get your morning coffee at the dealer each week in the customer lounge. :)

I have trouble defending GM on these however, because the ignition switches were one of the first recent recalls. The DW has a 2006 HHR and she received a notice in Feb. The parts for the fix have still not arrived and the dealer doesn't have a clue when they will be in. However, we did receive a letter for GM last week to inform us that we hadn't had the repair done and it is a safety hazard. Not very confidence inspiring even if the other companies are not perfect either.

I guarantee you that Ford and Chrysler/Ram could be issuing small recalls similar to GM right now if they wanted/had to. GM HAS to after the ignition switch fiasco of a few months ago.

GM screwed up with the ignition switch cover up. I am not defending them on that one. However, the brand loyalists lately love posting these threads about GM's recalls thinking it makes it look like they put out a poor product. GM wouldn't be issuing these insignificant recalls as of lately if it weren't for the light being on them, and Ford and Chrysler aren't because the light isn't on them.

Do you honestly think that just because the other automakers aren't issuing recall after recall that their vehicles are perfect? If you do you need to be beat over the head with a tack hammer. When a company is selling millions of vehicles/year, there are bound to be runs of them with a defective part. Up until now for all of the automakers it has been the practice to let them go if they aren't a major safety concern and let them be fixed under warranty if the problem comes to fruition in that period. IF there is a problem, whether safety related or not, and the company gets bad press then a recall is issued, or if it is a major safety concern a recall is issued whether it is known to the public or not... IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE NOT WITHSTANDING (that is why GM is where it is).

I have a feeling that this week or next week GM will issue another recall(s) and I am also sure it will be in the news and posted on this board. I'm not saying GM is better than the others as far as QC, probably as good but maybe not better, but you can bet your dollar that if you are driving a GM right now with a known issue it will be recalled and fixed. Can you say that if you are driving something else?

X2, whats the count now? Anyone know? Last time I checked it was 11+ million.
