My 2011 GM 2500 came from the factory with a payload rating of 2800 lbs. with its single leaf pack and 17" rims and Firestone tires. I added SuperSprings and replaced the tires with Nitto's rated at 3750@80 PSI, so the truck can now carry up to 5,000 lbs. - though the most I haul is 3700 lbs. in the bed.
Unfortunate that the Canadian cops are so anal. In the states there is not a problem unless the truck is obviously overloaded and sagging in the rear.
