- falconbrotherExplorer IIOf all the cars and trucks that I have ever owned, and it's been a bunch, I think that the Suburban with the whistles and bells is the most comfortable and useful at any price.
- justafordguyExplorerI just don't feel comfortable driving a car, I guess because I have driven trucks for 35+ years. Cars are just to low to the ground. The only smallish vehicle I feel comfortable driving is my old Bronco but it still sits up off the ground like a truck. Also I could care less about gas mileage because I just don't drive that many miles a year.
- 2112Explorer IIMy daily driver is a 12 yr old Ford 500 with 220K miles and counting. Comfortable big car ride at 26mpg. I don't know what I'm going to do when this thing dies.
I prefer not to use the truck as a DD. - wilber1ExplorerYa, there are a lot of great choices and options in between a small car and a truck.

So you barely fit in it but to save money you drive it? I prefer a full size pickup and I drive an hour to work and a hour home, to me it's worth the extra gas.
We looked at everything from a Jaguar to Audi and I told my wife I would buy her whatever she wanted. When she saw the little blue Civic she fell in love. Now that we have it I figure "well I can either squish in behind the wheel of the little blue car and get 45 mpg (and it is kind of fun to drive) or take my F350 and get 15 mpg". I think if I was buying the car for me I would have bought an SUV. - jerem0621Explorer II

That's why I drive an old paid for Town Car. Super comfy and still very nice after 17 years. I get around 20 MPG. The car fits me just about better than anything I have drove. This car saves me about $500-600 per month in a car payment because it's paid for :). 189k miles and I'm shooting for 300k plus. I do spend a few hundred per year on repairs.
You can save money and be comfortable at the same time.
Thanks!

Each to their own. I know a lot of people like a truck's high driving position and the sense of security it provides but I like driving and just find them awkward and cumbersome compared to a good sedan or crossover. Because of that I don't even feel safer in them, just capable of doing more damage.
Give me my Audi Q5 any day. Roomy little crossover that drives like a good sports sedan and makes twisty roads fun. I like my truck for what it does as a truck, tow my fifth wheel. Aside from that I wouldn't own one.
I loved my 2003 Honda Accord V-6 Coupe when I had it. Great fun on mountain roads, lots of power. But in all practicality I could only take one other person in it because the back seat was useless for anyone who actually had legs. My F-150 won't race that coupe on those roads, but I also wouldn't drive the Honda out across the pasture when I take the dog out for a run.
My wife's Ford Edge is a nice enough crossover, exponentially more versatile than my Honda was and I don't mind driving it, but given my druthers, I'd druther take the pickup. :W - fx2tomExplorerI tried to go to an SUV - a very nice one (Lexus RX350 F Sport). That lasted all of 6 months and I handed it to my business partner. I went out and bought a truck. I just like the way a truck drives. Granted I wouldn't want to dive a 3/4 ton every day on CA's crappy freeways but y Tian XD (or my previous F150 Platinum) are great to drive everyday.
