Each to their own. I know a lot of people like a truck's high driving position and the sense of security it provides but I like driving and just find them awkward and cumbersome compared to a good sedan or crossover. Because of that I don't even feel safer in them, just capable of doing more damage.
Give me my Audi Q5 any day. Roomy little crossover that drives like a good sports sedan and makes twisty roads fun. I like my truck for what it does as a truck, tow my fifth wheel. Aside from that I wouldn't own one.
I drive an HD truck as my daily driver but a few times a year travel and rent a sedan. It's always funny when getting back in the truck at the airport how heavy and tank-like the truck feels. I quickly get use to it but I agree a car is much easier to drive.
The SUV sure has come a long way. My wife had a BMW X5 for a while which is probably similar to the Audi Q5. Without a doubt that was the best all around vehicle I've ever driven. Great visibility, AWD for great handling in the rain, easy to get in and out of, safe, fast, etc, etc. I need the truck for my work but could see myself in an SUV someday for sure. - wilber1ExplorerEach to their own. Interesting. There is no way I would have a truck as a daily driver if I didn't have to. My truck stays parked when I am at home, sometimes for months. I just don't find them enjoyable to drive.
The wife and I both drive a truck as a daily driver, don't mind them at all.
Same here. I could never go back to driving a car after all these years.
Just buy a super cushy truck that rides like a car. - Sprink-FitterExplorer

It is sad to me where these trucks are going. They put so much extra creature comforts in them now that I would be afraid to use it for any real work. SOme of that stuff would be really expensive to fix. My wife has a SUV with the touch screen display and we bought the extra electronics warranty because I don't want to have to write a check if that thing goes bad.
I love my 06 CTD, 225K miles and going strong. Had it since 08 and so far only a fuel pump. The new ones are nice but to pay that much for a personal vehicle baffles me.
Our Honda has all the unnecessary stuff on it, like lane keeping assist, lane departure, navigation, adaptive cruise control, back up and side view cameras, rain sensing windshield wipers, turbo charged direct injection engine, etc. I found it kind of amusing how the salesman pushes Honda quality and as soon as the deal is done the next guy pushes, pushes, and continues to push all sorts of extended warranty coverage packages and undercoating and leather protectant and glass coverage and free remote replacement. I opted for none of it and was told nobody buys the touring model without buying an extended warranty package. The car has got 3 years bumper to bumper which should cover anything that was faulty off the line and I sure expect the car to go trouble free for the following 4 years. - RPreebExplorerI guess it's all expectations. My 2016 F-150 XLT 4x4 was under $40,000 - not cheap by any means, but it's very nicely equipped and is a great tow vehicle for our TT. It takes care of everything else we need to haul, and it's comfortable and fun to drive on a daily basis. It has more passenger seating room than any vehicle I've owned since I sold my '63 Chevy Impala 4dr HT in 1970.
You can add more stuff like leather seats, sun roof, dual climate control, navigation, etc., but I didn't even want most of that. I really only miss the climate control, but it isn't exactly hard to turn a knob or push a button if it's too hot or too cold. I really can't think of anything more that I'd want to bring the price up to $70,000. - phenrichsExplorerIt is sad to me where these trucks are going. I have no idea where my income would have to be before I would buy an expensive vehicle for personal use but I can't imagine wanting more than a Cadillac Escalade even if I had an endless supply of money.
Says the guy with an F350 Platinum.
You do know the article states an f150 is the vehicle of choice.
I really don't know what I was thinking. Our business owns the truck. I think of the Honda as our personal vehicle.
