Mounting things to the walls

I'm the same way. Dynamic loads cause issues. I want one by the door and one in the bed area, but don't want them rolling around, getting knocked over, etc. Want to keep them stationary without pulling screws out of the walls.

When I wrote the initial post, I think I was considering "hanging" one near the bed. I think that's a bad idea without it sitting on a surface with the bracket simply keeping it in place.

For hollow interior walls or fiberglass insulated outside walls, I like to use small 1/8 in. Pop Toggles and how to install. For foam filled outside walls where a pop toggle would not expand properly, I like to use Molly Bolts.

I had kind of planned to put it on the floor. Still didn't want screw ripping out of the walls. The one up in the bed area may be a little more challenging to find a place to mount it with support.

I use those for a lot of things and for lighter stuff, most definitely.

I’d mount a fire extinguisher so that it is supported by the ground if you are using the standard plastic mounts, or buy a real aluminum quick release mount.

this wouldn't work for a fire extinguisher, but I have command strips all over my camper for hanging lighter things on the walls. Although the command strip hooks hold up to towels and heavy coats, so I guess they can hold up a fair amount of weight.

If you find two studs and would like to locate your item between them, you can first attach a piece of wood spanning between the two studs then attach your item to that. Mounting to the side of a cabinet may also be an option. If the cabinet wall is thin you can attach some wood to the inside to beef it up.

I also use two extra anchor points and a bungee cord. Those things are heavy.
