We have several of the electronic repellers in ours that stay on whenever we aren't in it. Don't know if they work, and would hesitate to recommend them, but we haven't had any mice since we started using them. They also claim to repel elephants.
I had one in my RV and forgot to turn it back on after one trip. Within weeks I had a rodent infestation. I went out and bought two more and keep them on all the time now. One is in the storage compartment in the front of the RV and the other is inside at the back. So far I haven't seen any new signs, but the real test will be this winter. The rodents look for a warm place to nest when it gets cooler.
A co-worker was a pest control guy for 26 years and recommends packing the space around the pipes with coarse steel wool and then using spray foam to hold it in place. The rodents don't like the steel wool and won't chew through it.
I tried some granulated pest repellant and it was worthless. I spread it all under the RV and the next day I saw rat or squirrel tracks going right through it. My dogs would go out and lay under the RV where I had spread it.
