As for buying new vehicles, I can understand why someone would not want to take the first year depreciation of a new vehicle. But we have always bought new. Even when we were young and poor. The first new vehicle we bought was a 1972 Honda Civic. It cost $2,200. I could buy 27 of them for what this new Ford DRW is going to cost me.
But, we always know exactly what we want and we always keep the vehicle a long time and/or a lot of miles. My daily driver is a 2006 Camry with 245,000 miles on it. We sold a 2003 Corvette a couple of years ago that we bought new. The car before it was a Miata we bought new and kept for 13 years.
