My decision for solar is very practical. I use my camper only to attend events. Shooting, car shows, motorcycle rallys, etc. I'm almost never "at" my camper during the day or early evening. Therefore I'm usually not there to run a generator. Solar is the only way to go for me.
Solar is much cheaper than a generator and you can move it from one camper to another if and when you trade.
I went solar on my house two years ago. Best decision I ever made. Last year, my entire electric bill, including the lease on the 10.5Kw SolarCity system came to $390! My electric bills used to run $180 a month. (I operate a small machine shop from my house)
