82k ain't too good either. :E
What i was thinking, Fish, especially since I've been meticulous with maintenance of the cooling system. Have probably had coolant system flush/refill done more than recommended. Anyway, to the shop it goes Monday. It does appear that it would be a relatively easy task, but my back and a shredded tendon in my 'wrench' shoulder just won't allow it. Better the truck in the shop than me in intensive care.......:B
I think this "flush" business get's shops more repairs. I did not touch my 98 12V until 100K and all I did was drain and blow out what I could and re install a 50/50 mix of regular green NAPA fluid and de mineralized water. Also changed out to NAPA's best hoses. Truck has over 380K now with original water pump and radiator.
I have never "flushed a rig before.
I would advise getting whatever water pump will get you a lifetime warranty since they are ALL made in China now.
If you can find a US reman I would grab that first!!!!
If the coolant system was flushed with fresh water then I don't see how that can harm the water pump, but I've heard of water pump failures soon after a acidic type coolant flush.
Either way it's leaking and needs to be fixed....Good luck and let's hope your new pump lasts more than ~80k miles.
