Need help with tire/wheel choices, please

I'm trying to purchase tires and wheels for my 1990 Innsbruck by Gulfstream (2609IN), but the choices are overwhelming. Most sites I go to don't seem to differentiate between RV tires/wheels and trailer tires/wheels. So I am looking for some guidance, please.

The TT has two axels, and the wheels that are on there are 5 lug. The tires are F78-15ST. They are also 50psi.
The camper is kept in storage in Myrtle Beach, so I am limited to the pictures I have taken during earlier trips. Hopefully they are useful...

Hopefully, I lined the holes up correctly

Overall

I am planning on going down to MB in a month or so, and want to change all four wheels and tires at the same time. I would prefer to purchase them in Myrtle Beach and return the old ones for disposal, if possible. But will mail order them if that is my only real choice.
Thanks for your suggestions.
  • This is what I think I know:
The wheels are 5 bolt 4.5" on center 15 inches by 5.5 inches wide. The tires should be 205/75-15 ST 50psi.

If this is correct, I'm still not locating a source.

    Still appreciating any help!
  • Any reputable tire shop will be able to change out your old bias ply tires/old rims with new radial tires and suitable rims. Good luck.
  • Look on etrailer on the web. good prices on tires and rims already mounted. there are other sites as well.
  • The tire industry doesn't make nor have they ever made a RV tire. Their a special trailer (ST). However a LT (light truck) or ST can be used.
As wrvond say the F78-15 fits the new 205/75-15 C radial tire size.

Some tire stores carry some brands of ST tires but be care full if this trailer is going to see lots of highway miles. Right now the Maxxis ST8008 has a proven track record of all the ST tires.
etrailerpart.com has lots of wheels to choose from or some trailer parts store in your area may sell them also. Also some of the larger equipment trailer dealers sell trailer wheels.

Make sure the wheels width fits the tires width requirements.
  • Thanks for the help, guys.
I have learned a lot here and believe I am on track now.
  • Since you are buying rims now.. It would be a excellent time to upgrade to 16" rims. This will open the door to MANY high quality tires.
It appears that you have plenty of room to do it.

What ever rims you get, they should be zero offset.
  • I just ordered 4 new tires from 'Discount Tire Direct' for our TT. We did a trip earlier this Summer & I had a flat after we got back. The tires are old & we may have a longer trip coming in Aug. Since we haven't gone far lately I've been holding off.

I ordered 4 Maxxis 13" tires for $318 delivered. You can check the search engine on their site or tire rack for local installers. They have a $50 web discount until 17 July or so with most sets of 4 tires.

Unless you need new wheels, why not just keep the old ones?
