Just venting. Sadly we need to park the TT for a few years. New job isn't giving me enough time to take it out (previous job I had 4 weeks vaca), we only boon-dock and trying to get there on Sat morning and leave Sunday just isn't worth it. We bought it for boon-docking and possibly to live in if I got laid off and the next job was in another place. I got laid off but found a long term position still in PHX, so we are good there (only 2 weeks vaca). It is a high end TT and prohibitive for selling (unless someone wants to pay 50K for it ;)).The good thing is we live in Tempe, AZ so no water issues to worry about. We will cover it with ADCO cover(s) at our house.We are about 5 years from retirement so it will most likely park close to that long unless we get more vaca. Our vacation time is visiting Kids (in the Navy) when they get leave. One lives on one shore the other on the other shore and we do not want to chew up 5 - 7 days driving to visit them.No questions just comment.

Give her a good cleaning, take out the batt, and if possible park it in a closed in space like a storage unit or the like.with it inside and covered I don't think you will have anything happen to your baby.Dar

In that type of climate good idea to keep an eye on tires and tire pressure. Our 5'vr has been sitting for a while-we have the tires covered to protect from the sun-recently checked the pressure-3 were good and 1 really low with cracks in the sidewall. Tires probably have 30,000 on them. Lars

Have you thought about a seasonal site where you could leave it setup. All you would have to do is drive there for a weekend getaway.

We often use our RV as a stay-cation site. We spend the day or even overnight kind of a home away from home even though it's not that far from us. This way stuff gets used instead of just sitting there. I've used it as a remote office when I needed quiet or needed to spread out paperwork. My DW has used it for crafting or wrapping gifts. It's great because you can leave stuff out unlike at home where you may need to put stuff away each night so the dinning table is free.Don't forget 3 day weekends or add a vacation day or two to have some 4 day weekends throughout the year.

Box Canyon (Wickenburg) and Table Mesa (Black Canyon City) are two good places to boondock for the weekend, and both are right at 60-90 minutes away from you depending on which part of Tempe you live in. Both have off roading trails & Table Mesa has several shooting ranges. Maybe they're close enough for the effort to pack up the trailer & enjoy it for the weekend, just a thought:)

Exactly. I don't travel close to 160 miles one way to sit within feet of someone.

Where you are at makes a difference as well. While it might not be the same it's a heck of a lot better then staying home watching television. There are alternatives as many people have suggested. I worked 80 and 100 hour weeks while my RV sat in storage for 5 years. Getting a Seasonal was the best thing for me. Now that I'm retired I can travel but in addition will always keep my seasonal site, love the area.

Sometimes you just have to work with what you have.

Thanks, but in my OP no vacation time available.

I could drive the 3 - 4 hours on Friday night after work (traffic nightmare to the camping areas) or on Saturday and pack up Sunday afternoon for the return 3 - 5 nightmare trip home. In AZ the mountains on weekends I call agitated ant hills, you wouldn't believe where people set up small trailers/tents on the week-ends on some trips we have woken up to tent campers around us, 1 time about 15' from our awning. We pack up and leave when that happens. So a weekend only just doesn't work out. Really need to have a min 3 - 4 day weekend (I don't mean the holiday ones) and as I mentioned I do not have any vacation for this now, the measly 2 weeks I have are spent seeing the kids (in the Navy)

Why not take some shorter vacations? We go to places that are within 2 or 2 hours of home. If you can leave on a Friday after work and stay until Tuesday,that way you only use 2 days of vacation time but have 4 days of playtime. That's a little better than letting the camper sit for 4 or 5 years.

Not vacation time and in AZ you don't try to go the mountains on a long weekend.

Where there's a will, there's a way. You can still get out there and save your vacation time. Just become a weekend warrior. That's how we get out there half the time. We head out after work on Friday and sometimes get up early on Saturday if we don't have far to travel. Getting there Friday night is much better than trying to do everything Saturday morning. We keep the TT in a grab and go state which saves a ton of time. There's very little unpacking and repacking that needs to be done.

Sure it would be nice to get out there for longer stints more often, but that's the way of life for us working people. Doing the weekend warrior thing is much better than the alternative, hanging the trailer up. It doesn't seem like it's worth it until you're out there.

This ^^^ is my thought as well. Find a creative way to use it or sell.
There is a lot of rot and depreciation that will occur if units actually just sits for 5 years.
