X2. And for those that don't believe it, do your own experiement. Tomorrow on your way to work, count the number of 1500 series trucks that are hauling nothing but air vs the number of 1500 trucks that have something in their bed or on the hitch.
And, I do agree that the economics might not make sense right now with the price per gallon of diesel vs gas, but this is about CAFE ratings for Chrysler and the emotional side of a car purchase for the buyer. For many, it feels a lot better to look at their MPG reading and see 29 vs 20.
Tried that last summer. About 80 trucks in 8 miles on the way home one afternoon. None towing, 2 hauling; washer/dryer & a work site tool box & the other 78 EMPTY. Pretty telling to me how the majority of trucks are being used today.
Proves nothing ,only that they are used for commuting .
Now make the same observation in a campground - wompsExplorerYour 3.92 ratio would definitely give you some strong omph off the line. Bottom line is I am very happy with the power of both my vehicles. It is interesting how they feel very similar under acceleration which is probably the turbos spooling up.

Motor Trend has the 2.7 ecoboost handily beating the ecodiesel in all of their timed runs. I have a 2012 F150 ecoboost and a 2014 JGC ecodiesel. My ecoboost will smoke the ecodiesel at any speed. I tried it. The F150 has a 3.73 ratio where the JGC has a 3.45 so maybe that is the difference. If I turn the traction control off of the ecoboost I will smoke the tires once the turbos spool up. Also there is a 1,000 lb. weight disadvantage with my F150 versus my JGC.
And your point is?? Of what importance is that?
My point is in response to Dons post.
And your point is????
I do not have the Jeep GC I have a Ram with 3.92 gears that will also "smoke the tires" if I turn off the traction control and put it in 2WD. BTW it didn't take the Ford very long before it walked right away form me. But the little under powered Ecodiesel looked good off the line!
Don
I could say I backed off and let the ford win....but anyone that has every drove a Ecoboost would know that is bull excrement :W - Bionic_ManExplorer

What is the difference in MPG? - transamz9Explorer

My pickup trucks have been daily drivers since 1994. Parking a $40k pickup in the driveway and only using it to haul the camper/camping gear and home projects would be pretty expensive.
Never mind Ford, GM and Dodge would have a hard time living on just car sales.
I have two garage queens holding down my concrete in my garage. I drive at least one of them on the weekends but I have a company truck and the DW has a little car she drives to work. The are mainly used for camping and fishing. - shum02Explorer

That would be really handy if people bought the pickup trucks and Jeeps for drag racing. :R

This is just stating the obvious. The 2.7 Ecoboost has 325 horsepower. The 3.5 Ecoboost has 365 horsepower. The Ecodiesel has 240 horsepower. Of course the Ford will win. Anyone could have told you that. - boocoodinkydowExplorer
