Actually I think Nitrogen is a benefit. A point to note, just got new tires for my car and Costco uses Nitrogen.
Nitrogen doesn't expand and contract as much as typical air from a compressor due to moisture, so, when your tires get hot, the Nitrogen tire does not expand as much, or have as much of a pressure change. I liked this in my car, which has low profile tires. My first set, which had Nitrogen lasted much longer than my second set of tires that did not have Nitrogen. So, from my experience, it is a benefit.
Finally, your question. No worries, check as normal, if air is needed any air will suffice. You can mix, if you will, there is no difference to the tire. If you have a flat, or have to replace a tire, you don't have to have a nitrogen tire, but I think for the benefits, it is good to keep them the same.
