Getting in an accident was in the back of my mind when we took our new TT out on its maiden voyage. fortunately for us we haven't had this occur yet. All the damage I've had on my various RVs has been of my own doing (like jacknifing my PU or backing my TT into tree branches).
I echo everyone else's recommendations. Funny thing is I sat at the dealership when signing the paperwork, and called my insurance company to make sure I was covered before I took the new TT home. I envisioned getting in an accident taking it home from the the dealership only to have the insurance company tell me it wasn't covered. That would be a huge investment right down the crapper!
As my salesman said, fiberglass bodies are easier to maintain but more expensive to repair. Make sure you get a place that specializes in fiberglass work.
