You won't have to wait until 2019 to see cummins up power output. I no doubt believe they will up power for 2018 model year to regain torque lead.
What's ram going to do to improve the 68rfe to handle the extra power? We also know mild tuners wreak havoc on the cummins head gaskets!
Seams like it going to take some serious investment to take it to the next level.- blofgrenExplorer

Outstanding... Looks like cummins will be sucking hind tit. I hear there's a 2019 update so perhaps there will be more much needed hp for the cummins then.
LOL, but we all truly know which one will keep pulling the passes reliably time after time, year after year without pulling the cab for expensive repairs! ;) - TexasChapsExplorer

jeez u people.. even the "lowly" Cummins is way too much power for most rv towing.. now if the manufacturers would start an economy war instead.. 30 mpg and the same power vs 15 mpg and 500 hp you don't need..

- larry_barnhartExplorerI guess you all will feel sorry for me next week climbing the cabbage patch hill with 310 hp and 605 ft lbs of awesome whatever. Now the truth is I will be happy and enjoy the climb.
Nice to be happy.

- SouthpawHDExplorerThese diesel motors have always had that kind of power on tap, so no surprise there with the new numbers. But it's been more of a drivetrain matter. So it'll be interesting to see what other components they beefed up to handle this new power.
- corvettekentExplorerConsidering that my 2007 LMM only makes 365HP and 660 lb-ft they have really stepped up their game.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIIThe trans had to be BEEFED up no doubt!!!
That is very impressive for sure and will most likely destroy the new PS since GM in the past has been more conservative in it's ratings.
Yea my 33K barely gets over the passes. - S_DavisExplorer

Wow 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque that is quite the increase over its old power ratings. Interestingly it seems like they went with the same displacement that they previously had. I wonder what modifications they had to make to the engine in order to achieve this power level because they last stated that they stretch the rubber band pretty tight.
I don't think much on the engine, maybe stronger rods. My 09 has been at 530 hp and 1050 +- foot pounds of torque for over three years now on tuning alone. They will need to beef up the Allison 1000 though.
