new Escalade as TV

How many people are you hauling, how much gear are you carrying, and what size trailer are you looking to tow?
I'll treat this as a loaded 1/2-ton crew cab - you'll probably run out of payload after it's all said and done.

I am not asking if the truck will tow a certian trailer. i will be under all capacities, i was only asking if anyone has any experence towing at the rated capacity and how the truck feels.

I know a few towing with Suburbans and Excursions that state they have a decent towing experience but they are not towing at their max capacities. No matter the tow vehicle, towing at max or over is not an ideal towing experience. A quick online search indicated payload capacity roughly around 1500#, with everything in your Escalade subtracting from that amount which is why someone asked about what you intend to carry onboard your new Caddy while towing. Many half-tons have impressive towing capacities but never even get close to towing that much, check your driver door jamb for label indicating payload. That is a sweet ride and there are plenty of TT's available that would make for a good towing combination.

It will have 'P' rated tires, not good for towing
The 6.2 is an all aluminum 'hot rod' motor used in the Corvette and Camero, not designed for towing, thats why it is not available in 2500 or 3500 trucks

If you will be towing anywhere near max and have P275/55R-20 tires swap them out for LT265/60R-20.

Never mind the "hot rod" motor comment. The 6.2L is a BEAST for towing. It simply isn't meant to be an HD "work truck" engine. That's all.

Agreed.
I wish that motor was available in the HD models perhaps in a slightly detuned version/regular gas.

the tires are 285/45/22s ,load rating is 110

Think this OP is just looking for 'sure you can' stuff and already has a few....with many more to follow

If this OP is truly looking for actual information, then look up it's GCWR or ask the dealer to supply that. Tough to find on the internet, as it is key to the actual MTWR and most OEMs do NOT want to put that into writing...

Typically, OEMs MTWR is based on the stripper model to derive the MTWR, so take the listed curb and add the listed MTWR to get the ball park GCWR

Here is the GM media page with most of the 'offical' information: GM Media: 2016 CADILLAC ESCALADE SPECIFICATIONS

In 'Exterior dimensions" section, the curb is 5795 / 2628 (2WD)
6040 / 2739 (4WD)

In 'Capacities' section, the MTWR is 8100 / 3674 (2WD)
7900 / 3583 (4WD)

So you can figure it out yourself, because you have not posted whether it is a 2WD or 4WD

If 2WD it is 5,795 + 8,100 = 13,895 GCWR (approx)

If 4WD it is 6,040 + 7,900 = 13,940 GCWR (approx)

Then go out and weigh your new TV and subtract that from the above 2WD or 4WD to get your actual MTWR....hopefully that will be the basis for the OP's thinking that they will be under their capacities...

Typical newbie mistake is to take the published MTWR as an absolute and that it applies to their TV...it only does apply to their TV if their TV is a stripper model (AKA curb)

thank you for all your comments. Again I'm not asking how much I can tow. I have already found that information online. Its not my first camper I have been camping for a few years. Before I bought my current 5th wheel (that I tow with a 2500hd dmax) I had a bumper pull camper that was a 2006 jayco tt that weighed almost 10,000lbs and was very hard on me as the driver. I do not plan to overload the escalade. I am OK using it to pull my golf cart and mx bikes around while I use the dmax as my TV for the camper(I currently double tow my golf cart behind my 5er) I was only asking if anyone here has real world experience towing with the escalade,or Yukon Denali with the new 8 speed and 6.2 L86.

I actually found a few videos of the escalade pulling a 7000lb horse trailer (TFL truck) up the ike gauntlet at elevation and they had nothing bad to say at all. In fact the with comments like "we need a bigger trailer" and I keeping exceeding the speed limit so I have to let off". Anyway I think this truck has some real potential and if anyone has any real world experience that would be great! I travel with my wife and dogs. we live and travel the south east so no long grades, and we don't do very long trips at this point in time so we don't need a lot of gear. we havent done any dry camping so we never fill our fresh water tank. So, not exactly your scenario, but here is my experience. I upgraded from an 03 2500 8.1 Burb to a 2011 Yukon Denali XL. I use it to tow my 6500 pound boat.

From boating forums, I know many people who sing the praises of the XL and Escalade for towing. But my experience has not been as good. To me, the towing experience is below expectations. At 65 MPH it is simply OK. Any faster than that (think about passing a slower moving vehicle on a 2-lane road), and I get quite a bit of trailer sway, and it works its way up to the Yukon. I know my problem is not my boat trailer as it towed fine with the older Burb as well as my truck in signature.

I hope my problem is the P rated tires, and will likely upgrade this year. But I am not holding my breath either.
