New Gas Range

Have a new TT and I haven't been in it a lot because of winter. I went in to get some paper work and saw that my face frame on the side of my Suburban gas range was marked up so I look under the stove and the screws on the brackets where never put in and gouged the heck of the woodwork at least 1/8 in deep and nothing is holding the stove in up top also. As soon as I find the model number and no how to get the top off it should be a easy fix. I just thought is funny that the only thing holding my stove in is the gas line..:E

  • Small update on stove. The top is one that you push away from you and lift up at the same time. All I had to do is install 4 screws into the edge of the counter top. On the bottom I did pre drill some holes in face frame before I installed screws because I don't no what kind of wood it is and I was afraid to crack it. Very easy fix. I think all the plumbing is next. So far all I have done with that is get the draws out and some plywood so I can get to everything. While I'm at it the wiring looks like it could use some attention. I have Pex tools for 1/2 and 3/4 I will half to check and see what size because Id like to install a toilet shut off valve sometime and will bring some spare Pex and fittings with me this spring. Thanks for the heads up guys.
  • For sure go over the entire trailer with a fine tooth comb. Regarding plumbing, go over every single water supply line and drain connection ( don't forget the water supply at the back of the commode ), and then recheck them all periodically. You may find with normal use, these joints can become slightly loose again. They did in my trailer.
  • Thanks everyone. I will be looking at everything that I can get to when the temps are better. Hoping not to have any big problems. I did have one of them what the heck moments when I saw the stove held in by the gas line..LOL
  • It's a brand new rig, so I'd go over it with a fine tooth comb. First thing I noticed on mine was that the fittings on the shower drain had never been tightened, which is why there was water all over the floor the first time I used the shower. Sent me to checking other things. Evidently RV makers' employees are under considerable time constraints in the assembly process.

So. Welcome to the scrum. Best of luck with that new rig, may it serve you well for the making of many years worth of memories.
  • I just looked at a YouTube video and then checked mine. The top of the stove, tray that surrounds the burners just lifts up from the front, it is hinged at the back.
On each side, front and back there are screws that go through the top trim and into the frame work to hold the unit in place.
