people up in Canada need 4x4, Waist of money.
Hey Supercharged are you enjoying the fruits of your post? It's already been a long, brutally cold winter up here and it only officially started 3 weeks ago in the north and I do miss camping so the entertainment this website provides is appreciated this time of the year.
I just wanted to point you to that latitudinally speaking the fine folks of both Oregon and Washington states must travel south to reach the southern most parts of Canada. So depending on where someone lives in the lower 48 states they may actually have to go down to get to Canada not up.
Just thought you'd like to know that little factoid. - FlashmanExplorer IINeeded 4x4 yesterday while backing up my utility trailer up my friends PAVED crazy steep driveway.
This is in town on pavement. In case you think something is wrong with my truck - my friend tells me it is the way he has to do it with his Chevy.
So yes Virginia you do need 4x4 - even if you are a flatlander. - SuperchargedExplorer

...says the guy who's profile states he lives in ARIZONA!!
Bwaahahahah!! :S
Wonder if he has ever even SEEN snow?!
grew up in north central Iowa, snow yes, before chill factor, just normal cold. Four miles from town. The pool hall was in town. So I had to take my motorcycle or stay home. 5 mins. of very cold, but then I was a the pool hall. Any one who came for the midwest in the fifty no was a pool hall is. But it only snow in the winter. And only on weekend. The best looking girls lived on the road with the deepest snow drifts.
Yes I know what cold is. - burningmanExplorer IIElon Musk is making progress on his Mars “camp”

This means you have neighbors, UGH.
I do National Parks, State parks, private CG's, and boondock every now and then, there is no way I will pull my 25ft camper down a road that I mite need 4x4 to get out of, I try to take care of my stuff and make it last as long as possible, if I wan't to go down a dirt road I off load the motorcycle and do my exploring.
Ever notice on this forum how many complain about: His generator is too loud, his lights are too bright, his diesel smells and woke me up, his kids cut thru my camp etc, etc.
That doesn't sound like a good time to me. I gotta deal with all that **** at home, I don't need it when I am camping. If I can see another camper.... He is too close.
It has NOTHING to do with taking care of my stuff... Indeed, if going solo as I do, you better take care of your stuff. Breakdowns become a bigger problem when you are alone. - 1stgenfarmboyExplorerIt was dead after Flashmans last post but you got it going again.
- intheburbsExplorerCan we just let this troll thread die already? Please?

To each his own.
I too have a dirt bike and a RZR - but I like to "camp" away from the crowds and in the inter mountain west there are thousands of miles of forest service and BLM roads to explore - and sometimes I do need 4x4 to get to the good spots - and I also have a 25 ft TH. I am not talking about rock climbing but just a little bit of sand or mud can make a difference. - fj12ryderExplorer III

It may be for you, but not everyone. Believe it or not, people do things differently than you do. I don't consider RVing to be camping. Camping entails tent, sleeping bags, and dirt.
Does any one boondock?
Driving down the pavement from one RV park to the next - you can get by with 4x2. Try going down a dirt road for 5 miles and getting caught in a rain storm - then come back and tell me how great your 4x2 was. Snow has nothing to do with it.
I thought RV ing was about camping. - 1stgenfarmboyExplorerI do National Parks, State parks, private CG's, and boondock every now and then, there is no way I will pull my 25ft camper down a road that I mite need 4x4 to get out of, I try to take care of my stuff and make it last as long as possible, if I wan't to go down a dirt road I off load the motorcycle and do my exploring.
