ShinerBock,
Ahhh!
The 6.6 Duramax engine is NOT an Isuzu engine. It's a 6.6 Duramax engine and is 100% GM owned including all designs, patents, and sole rights to manufacture which it is and always has been in Moraine, Ohio in a GM facility. In the very beginning (1997), the Duramax diesel engine was a joint venture delevopment by GM and Isuzu. GM was the major partner (60% GM- 40% Isuzu) in the Duramax venture. However, the present Duramax 6.6 has now been 97% redesigned by GM alone and Isuzu hasn't even been in the picture for longer than decade now. Duramax was designed and developed in Moraine, Ohio in the USA!
The 6.0 and the 6.4 Ford Powerstroke Diesel of around 10 plus years ago were designed and made by Navistar for Ford but the 6.7 never was nor is.
Dodge and/or Ram never had a Chrysler Corp or FCA made or owned 5.9 or 6.7 Diesel engine as they have always been Cummins designed and produced and they were simply purchased from Cummins, shipped down to Mexico and installed in the 2500 and 3500 trucks and then the truck were imported into the USA and Canada for selling.
The EcoDiesel engine in the 1500 Ram trucks is a VMI Italy diesel engine which was initially designed and developd by GM to be a small passenger car diesel engine option and was planned to be put in a Cadillac car.
